Enjoy!!!
Poet/Singer/Songwriter Nick Drake is truly amazing. His melancholy sound is simply something of which you can not get enough. It is almost addictive, at least for me anyway! His songs evoke feelings of introspection and amusement. His music can be heard again and again, and still each time you will feel like you are listening for the first time.
Honestly, how could this grossly underrated
individual be so young, so insightful, and so brilliantly talented?
Nick's first album, Five Leaves Left, in my opinion is his greatest recorded studio album. Nick Drake was physically sublime looking as was the depth of his soul revealed through his musical and lyrical talent.

Color, art, design, and music are my reasons for loving this life. I have always enjoyed jazz, blues, acoustic guitar, percussion, reggae, classical, and rock. Which brings me to the motivating factor for this new endeavor, Nick Drake Love.
I felt a deep seeded need to begin this blog about a phenomenal artist whom I recently discovered by slight but, lucky for me, great chance. On this wonderful day, I was watching a movie with my husband and my daughter, The Way, by Emilio Estevez featuring his Dad, Martin Sheen. Before long, I heard something truly moving. I asked my daughter to please rewind the movie, I had to know who was creating that amazing sound! Thankfully we were watching with subtitles and I was able to see the name of this mesmerizing tune and artist. It was...

Nee, my newly found love and adoration for this incredibly talented musician and poet. For the rest of that day and many more to follow, I listened to and learned about this exquisitely brilliant artist. Perhaps I share, as my favorite actor from days recently passed Heath Ledger, a bit of an obsession. (According to my husband!) I immediately felt this overwhelming desire to share with the world the gift that is Nick Drake.
During my feverish search, I did learn about The Estate of Nick Drake's web site,
http://www.brytermusic.com/
This site is worth a visit, very pretty and informative.
I learned about exhibits dedicated to Nick Drake,
http://www.aplacetobe.cc/ ,
and my goodness, was I thrilled. The exhibitions consist of artists' interpretations of Nick's music. Also worth a visit and a listen. Something special there from Heath Ledger. When I saw, I was brought to tears. I had no idea, then, that Heath was a Nick fan. I learned otherwise after seeing this surprise.
English born Nick Drake fell into the all consuming spiral of depression and only lived to the mere age of 26 (1948-1974), succumbing to an overdose of anti depressants. In his short life, this man wrote the most beautiful moving music that I have ever experienced. His genius is forever embedded in the minds of his listeners as well as in his enthralling recordings. His guitar playing is mesmerizing, his voice as soothing and comforting as falling rain on a London city street.
For me, his music encompasses everything one could possibly love about music. Wonderful arrangements, heartfelt lyrics, and many genres of music all wrapped up in one. I am so happy that I found you, Nick Drake!
There is a You Tube link in my profile, which will direct you right to Nick's Pink Moon entire album!!! You can then listen to many of his other brilliant works, happy listening!!!
